We are delighted to announce that the ICOMOS ISC20C Annual General Meeting will be organized in Finland on 19.–22.8.2024 by the International Scientific Committee on 20th Century Heritage and the Alvar Aalto Foundation in cooperation with the ICOMOS Finland, Aalto University, DOCOMOMO Suomi Finland and the City of Jyväskylä. Following the ISC20C event, participants will have the opportunity to join the 16th Alvar Aalto Symposium on Contemporary Architecture on 22.–23.8.2024 in Jyväskylä, the venue for which is the Main building of the University of Jyväskylä by Alvar Aalto.

The seminar will take place at the Aalto University campus in Espoo, Finland. Venue: Aalto University Undergraduate Centre, Otakaari 1, Espoo. Hall A1.
The event will be open to ISC members and members of the National committees of ICOMOS and DOCOMOMO and the students attending Finnish schools of architecture.

9:00–9:30 Seminar opening and welcome words at the Department of Architecture (Aalto University Undergraduate Centre. Hall A1. Address: Otakaari 1, Espoo)
9:30–11:30 Session 1: Diversity of Conservation Approaches and Climate Change
11:30–13:30 Campus walk and lunch at the student restaurant in Dipoli by Raili and Reima Pietilä, at participants’ own expense (Address: Otakaari 24, Espoo)
13:30–15:30 Session 2: Raising Awareness of the Late 20th Century Heritage
15:30–16:00 Break
16:00–17:00 Round table and discussion, closing words by the chair
17:30–22:00 Visit to the Aalto House (Address: Riihitie 20, Helsinki) and get-together at Studio Aalto (Tiilimäki 20, Helsinki). Program starting at the Aalto House is open to the members and by invitation only.
The meeting will take place at the Säynätsalo Town Hall by Alvar Aalto in Jyväskylä, Finland. Säynätsalo is located in Jyväskylä, situated 250 km from Helsinki. Several daily train and bus connections operate between the Helsinki airport and Jyväskylä for those not joining the charter bus on 21.8.2024.

Following the ISC20C event, participants will have the opportunity to join the 16th Alvar Aalto Symposium on contemporary architecture in Jyväskylä. The Seminar venue is the Main Building of the University of Jyväskylä by Alvar Aalto.
Two days, three themes, with presentations on: the ENVIRONMENT, RESOURCES, and ARCHITECTURE. Leading international and Finnish speakers, discussions, networking, an unmissable side programme, and Aalto’s architecture set amidst wonderful lake scenery.
Seminar registration is available either onsite in Jyväskylä, Finland, or online at the virtual event platform. Registration is required for all participants. ISC20C meeting participants are provided a discount price of -20% for the early bird live tickets by 31st May for the Alvar Aalto Symposium.
