The main themes emerged from the topical phenomena of global crises; climate change, extreme weather conditions and the loss of biodiversity to the political, financial and societal changes in our environment. Check the programme HERE.
The 16th Alvar Aalto Symposium 22.-23.8.2024 was a hybrid event, onsite in Jyväskylä, Finland, and virtual for a large international audience around the world. The event language was English. The traditional onsite venue was the main building of the University of Jyväskylä (Alvar Aalto, 1954-55).
The 15th Alvar Aalto Medal was awarded to Belgian architect Marie-José Van Hee at the opening day of the symposium. Read more here.
This internationally prestigious architecture prize is awarded jointly by the Alvar Aalto Foundation, Finnish Association of Architects SAFA, Museum of Finnish Architecture, Finnish Architectural Society and the City of Helsinki.
