A day of architecture and design: Helsinki, Friday 3 February 2012

You are invited to take part in our top-level architecture and design seminar, which will bring together professionals and the interested public to explore important and challenging topics early on in 2012, Helsinki’s World Design Capital year. Taking the stage will be international keynote speakers and the winners of the prestigious international World Design Impact Prize, the Alvar Aalto Medal and the Estlander Prize.

The seminar will focus on the role of architecture and design in creating a good living environment and society. What is the potential of an open city that engages people, or the role of design and planning on our journey towards global responsibility? How do we take into account the challenges of sustainable development in our everyday lives?

The language of the seminar is English.

The event is organised by the Alvar Aalto Medal committee, including representatives from the Alvar Aalto Foundation, the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA), the Museum of Finnish Architecture, the Finnish Society of Architecture and the City of Helsinki. The event partners include the Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo, the Design Museum, and Design Forum Finland.
