Claes Caldenby will hold a lecture entitled Sigurd Lewerentz: Flesh in the Air, on Thursday 27 November, at 5 pm, in the auditorium of the Sähkötalo building in Helsinki. The lecture will explore the life and prolific career of the internationally acclaimed Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz (1885–1975). Lewerentz is known, for example, as the designer of the Malmö Opera and Music Theatre, which is considered to be a masterpiece of functionalist architecture.
The lecturer, Claes Caldenby, is an emeritus professor at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, specialising in post-war architecture. He has, since 1977, also worked as an editor at the Swedish architecture magazine Arkitektur.
The lecture will be in English, and admission is free.
