One of the characteristics of furniture designed by Alvar Aalto is its adaptability; many different chairs can be produced from one basic model. Different combinations of arms and legs, ‘jouset’ (springs) and ‘kehät’ (rings), have proved to be ideally suited to this kind of variation.
