Säynätsalo Talks I Rethinking Säynätsalo Town Hall
Monday 28 May 2018 at 15-18
Säynätsalo Town Hall, Council Chamber

In the fall of 2017, eleven Master of Architecture students from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design travelled to Finland with professor Toshiko Mori to conduct research on the Säynätsalo Town Hall and the work of Alvar Aalto.
They spent the semester speculating on the future role of a town hall that had lost its original programmatic and symbolic functions due to the redistricting of regional townships. The time has now come to present their findings.

In the Säynätsalo Talks, professor Toshiko Mori will discuss the working process and key findings of the architecture studio. Florence Lam and Benjamin Hayes, Master’s Students in Architecture, will present their fresh views on the future of the Säynätsalo Town Hall. Commentary by Alvar Aalto Foundation.

Säynätsalo Talks will be in English. Participation is free of charge. Advance registration is not required. Coffee is being served. Welcome!
The Rethinking Säynätsalo Town Hall poster exhibition is on display at Town Hall from 26 May onwards and at Artek Helsinki Store from 30 May.

Säynätsalo Talks is being organised by Harvard University Graduate School of Design in cooperation with Alvar Aalto Foundation, Artek Oy Ab, Tavolo Bianco Oy and Allan and Bo Hjelt Art Foundation.
