The Alvar Aalto Week, produced by the Alvar Aalto Academy, arrives in Seinäjoki 13–17.9.2017. This is the first in a series of interactive urban events at which professionals from various science and art disciplines meet city audiences. The programme for the event is a kaleidoscopic overview, including guided tours, lectures, and workshops on a variety of themes, along with numerous other topics approached in an artistically and scientifically interdisciplinary spirit.
The open call for events for Alvar Aalto Week is still underway. We are happy to accept proposals for new and innovative events linked to the built environment for inclusion in the program. If your company is interested in being a partner in collaboration, don’t hesitate to get in touch! Read more about the Alvar Aalto Week.
Part of the Alvar Aalto Week will be the 6th International Alvar Aalto Meeting on Contemporary Architecture, 14–15.9.2017, this year’s title being ”Technology and Humanism”. The talks at the architecture event will occupy the middle ground between humanism, architectural theory and digitalization, and interestingly reflect topical themes on the built environment.
The keynote speakers at the architecture event, all distinguished in different sectors of architecture, are Pekka Heikkinen, Ari Hynynen, Markku Karjalainen and Henrika Pihlajaniemi. Chairing the event is Professor and Director of the Alvar Aalto Academy Markku Hedman, and we are inviting participants in the event, especially architects and designers, plus researchers, teachers and students in the field, along with others interested in architecture.
