The Alvar Aalto Foundation’s Museum sites – the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä and the Aalto House and Studio Aalto in Helsinki – are closed in line with Government of Finland guidelines at least until May 13, 2020. We will keep the audience informed if the situation changes.

Although the sites are currently physically closed, you can still explore Aalto´s architecture and design on our digital channels.

You can delve into these always equally topical gems of architecture and design here. Aino and Alvar Aalto. Shared Visions. Innovations in Wood Bending Technology & Design of Furniture is now at the Takaneka Carpentry Tools Museum in Kobe, Japan. The exhibition tells the story of Aino and Alvar Aalto’s furniture design and manufacturing, and of the founding of the Artek company. You can make a virtual visit to this fascinating exhibition and view it on video.

A fascinating narrative lets you really live and breathe the glowing works and their backgrounds in Inka Kivalo’s Personae exhibition, previously shown in the Alvar Aalto Museum Gallery. The presentation is rounded off with photographs that convey the mood of the works in their own unique way.
