What features of architecture or design bring you joy? Use the hashtags #ArkDesignJuhla and #CelebrateArchDesign to celebrate the architectural and design details in your everyday environment and life that make you happy.

We are always surrounded by architecture and design. Carefully considered details and themes are often subtle, but they make our lives easier and bring us joy every day. By calling attention to the architecture and design that surround us, we wish to show how successful design improves daily life.

Take a moment to survey your surroundings: is there an object or an architectural feature that has left an impression on you? Maybe a favourite spoon from your childhood or a beautiful door handle? A bright balcony or a cozy armchair? The way light plays on the walls of a stairwell?

We are celebrating architecture and design by filling social media with gems from everyday environments!

How to participate:
Take a picture of an architectural or design feature that is important to you.
Describe its meaning to you and publish the picture between 1 and 7 February with the hashtags #ArkDesignJuhla and #CelebrateArchDesign on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

The photography challenge is organised jointly by the Alvar Aalto Foundation, the Museum of Finnish Architecture, Archinfo Finland and the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA). Together with the Finnish Association of Landscape Architects (MARK), the Association of Finnish Architects’ Offices, Building Information Foundation RTS, Ornamo Art and Design Finland, the Finnish Design Museum, the Finnish Association of Interior Architects SIO and the Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA), we propose that the birthday of Alvar Aalto on 3 February be made a flag day for architecture and design.
