In her Artek period, Aino Aalto designed many lightly constructed chairs, mainly dining chairs. Many of them were in production for varying lengths of time, but many of these models have now been forgotten.

This particular woven rattan chair formed part of the furnishings at the Aalto House in Helsinki, in front of the grand piano, for example. The designer of the chair was also the keenest musician in the family.
