The 80th-anniversary celebration of the Aalto stool has begun with a touring exhibition jointly arranged by the Alvar Aalto Museum and Artek. Visitors can explore the stool’s history and manufacturing process. The JAKKARA 60 – STOOL 60 BY ALVAR AALTO premiered in Cologne, Germany.
STOOL 60 was first displayed to the public in 1933, following several years of product development. The decades have seen several different versions of the stool, but its simple, ascetic form language has remained unchanged from the start.
A Stool Makes History, a more extensive exhibition curated by the Alvar Aalto Museum for the anniversary year, will open in the Museum gallery in Jyväskylä in May.
