Säynätsalo Town Hall Workshop will take place in Säynätsalo Town Hall, Jyväskylä on 7– 8 June, 2017
Säynätsalo Town Hall Workshop – Modern Masterpiece in Contemporary Society focuses on the present day and the future of a landmark piece of architecture. The workshop has been coordinated by Alvar Aalto Academy and focuses on the Aalto-designed Säynätsalo Town Hall as a historic, landmark work of modern architecture in the middle of a lively part of the city. The subject is approached from the perspective of building conservation and renovation, for instance, as well as function and adaptation requirements. The way that the building works in dialogue with its environment and local residents will also be studied.

3rd Alvar Aalto Researchers Network Seminar will be held in Säynätsalo, Jyväskylä on 9– 10 June, 2017
The Alvar Aalto Academy’s research seminar will ponder the current significance of Aalto’s architecture and thinking. Alvar Aalto Researchers Network Seminar – Why Aalto? will investigate the way that Aalto’s architecture is linked to the present day – how buildings and their environments adapt to contemporary requirements and the specific challenges and demands that their use and repair entails. Multi-disciplinary perspectives and responses will also be sought to the question of whether the values or themes of Aalto’s design have something that contemporary design can learn from and be inspired by.
