Ola Kolehmainen is a contemporary artist of international importance who is known for his large abstract architectural photographs. An exhibition of Kolehmainen’s latest works will be opening at the Alvar Aalto Museum in March.
Many of the works in the Kolehmainen exhibition are associated with Aalto buildings. Kolehmainen has been visiting Aalto buildings for years in order to become familiar with them – from Paimio Sanatorium to the Villa Mairea, to Säynätsalo Town Hall and Imatra, to buildings in and around Jyväskylä and finally to Viipuri Library. Over the last year he has also been working in the Alvar Aalto Museum archives. In his works, Kolehmainen is reaching out for a space-time experience on the other side of the picture plane.
