The photography exhibition Alvar Aalto – A Gentler Structure for Life is being shown in Iran, on the premises of the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran, February 12–19, 2014. The exhibition spans Aalto’s architecture from the 1930s right up to the 1970s.
This touring exhibition of photographs of Alvar Aalto’s buildings was assembled along with the book of photographs of the same name published in 1998, on the 100th anniversary of Aalto’s birth. The buildings were photographed by the Alvar Aalto Museum’s photographer Maija Holma.
Maija Holma’s photographs are accompanied in Tehran by photographs of Finnish town planning and building construction taken by Ehsan Ranjbar, Assistant Professor of Urban Design at Tarbiat Modares University, and Najmeh Motalaei, lecturer at the University of Applied Science in Tehran. The exhibition also includes Finnish industrial design, such as Alvar Aalto’s furniture, glass art and interior-design textiles.
