Let’s skate day on Saturday, September 14th will bring together the skateboarding community once again. Part of The Pool exhibition, including From the Surf to the Sidewalk – When Skateboarding Culture and Architecture Meet and the Lizzie Armanto Colors exhibition, will be open until 15 September.
At the event, you can hear the curator tell the background and story of the exhibition From the Surf to the Sidewalk (only in finnish). You can also ask the curator questions about the connection between skateboarding and architecture, among other things. Oona Markkanen and Ines Särkkä’s documentary film (subtitled in English) about skateboarding from the perspective of eight different women will be available to watch at the event. The day will also provide an opportunity to reflect on a good urban environment through workshop.
The Pool exhibition has been accompanied throughout the summer by a photo challenge to collect skateboarding-related images from skateboarders. The photos have been on display at the Lizzie Armanto Colors exhibition and reflect the same diversity and colourfulness as the Colors exhibition. On the day of the event, you can still see the full set of images from the photo challenge before the exhibition closes on 15 September 2024.
