Magazine ptah has been completely transformed inside and out. What started life as an information sheet for the Alvar Aalto centenary year has now grown up into a new kind of periodical concentrating on the theory of architecture, design and art, and publishing academic essays and peer review articles entirely in English. The organization behind ptah is the Alvar Aalto Academy.
	ptah was the ancient Egyptian god of building, whose image also adorns the back page of our publication. PTAH (Progrès, Téchnique, Architecture Helsinki) was as well the name of the Finnish CIAM group founded in 1953 by Pentti Ahola, Aulis Blomstedt, Aarne Ervi and Ilmari Tapiovaara.
