Murray Grigor, a Scottish director of documentaries, is one of the worlds leading characters in the scene of art related documentaries. He is known as a colourful personality whose distinctive mark in his works is great and intuitive understanding of the shapes of light, shadows and buildings. He started his film making career in 1968 by making a film about architect Charles Rennie Macintosh. Since then he has directed many award winning films most of them concerning architecture.
The screenings in Ateneum Hall present Murray Grigors most significant films ranging from his earliest works to the newest one which is a documentary about architect Sir John Soane. The event also features two top lectures from architectural experts. Scottish professor Andrew MacMillan talks about Charles Rennie Macintoshs architecture. The other topical issue is Sir John Soanes architecture which is presented by German historian Michaela Giebelhausen.
