In 1947, an exhibition entitled Konstruktiv konst was held in a Stockholm art gallery. In addition to Swedish contemporary art, the exhibition included furniture designed by Alvar Aalto, and Aalto's latest invention, the Y-leg was on show there. The Y-leg was equally well suited to making stools and tables as it was to making chairs. Various types of chairs with Y-legs were conceived. The ash-veneered chair with leather trimming shown here presumably remained only an experiment.
